I have a 2005 seadoo 200 speedster w twin 185 (370hp) I have a bouncing problem. I saw a picture of a seadoo with a plate attached to the trim plates that was angled down. will this help with the bouncing, if so how long and what angle should it be. or is their something else i can put on to help me and where do i get it? i'd suggest starting with adjusting the balance of your load. move anything heavy up into the bow and see what effect that has. Have you tried just adding some weight to the front of the boat...see if you find a place (is there an anchor locker) to add a heavy bag of sand. It will probably help without spending any $$$. Also, make sure when loading people you spread the weight evenly. I can't tell you how many times people think about spending money on problems like you are encountering, instead of just properly distributing your equipment/occupants. Toyota . How to Rebuild My 289 2BBL Intake ManifoldFord produced the 289 engine from 1963 to 1968. The base model 289 was equipped with a two-barrel carburetion system that included a one-piece intake manifold. Mounted to the top of the manifold are a number of components that corrode from the antifreeze that flows through the manifold and passes over the bottom of the components. Although not related to the performance of the manifold, chipped paint and heavy engine deposits can make the manifold less than pleasing to the eye. Fortunately, the manifold's components are readily available, and rebuilding the manifold should take no more than one afternoon. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Adjustable wrench Socket wrench Ground glass and a media blaster, or engine degreaser and a wire brush Black paint (1963-1965 engines) Medium Ford blue paint (1966-1968 engines) Teflon tape Step by Step : 1 Remove the vacuum line port from the back of the manifold by rotating the rectangular base of the port in a counterclockwise direction with an adjustable wrench until the port detaches from the manifold. 2 Disconnect the heater hose fitting from the front of the manifold by rotating its square-shaped base with an adjustable wrench until it detaches from the manifold. The portion of the fitting that protrudes into the manifold will likely be badly corroded, particularly if the fitting is the original, so it should be replaced with a new fitting. 3 Remove the temperature gauge's sending unit from the front of the driver's side of the manifold by turning the unit in a counterclockwise direction. As with the heater hose fitting, the bottom of the sending unit will most likely be corroded and should be replaced as well. 4 Unscrew the four bolts that secure the backfire-suppressor valve to the back of the manifold with a socket wrench. The valve must be replaced as it cannot be disassembled. 5 Remove the surface rust, paint and oil deposits from the manifold with ground glass applied under pressure with a media blaster. As an alternative, use engine degreaser and a wire brush to remove the majority of the material. 6 Apply masking tape over the carburetor opening to avoid overspray from paint. 7 Paint the manifold with the appropriate color of paint. If the 289 was manufactured between 1963 and 1965, paint the manifold with black paint. If the engine was manufactured between 1966 and 1968, paint the manifold with medium Ford blue. Both colors are available in aerosol paint cans. 8 Install and tighten the four bolts that secure the backfire-suppressor valve to the manifold with the socket wrench. 9 Wrap the threaded ends of the temperature gauge's sending unit, the heater hose fitting and the vacuum line port with Teflon tape to avoid water leaks, then turn each component in a clockwise direction into its fitting on the manifold.
Toyota . What Is the Solonoid Valve on an Intake Manifold?Cars rely on mechanical and electrical devices in order to run efficiently. Many of these parts play dual roles, or are electromechanical. A solenoid valve on the car's intake manifold is an example of a crucial electromechanical device. Definition A solenoid valve is an electromechanical valve used to determine the flow of liquid or gas. Function A solenoid valve on an intake manifold contains a wire coil, which carries electric currents. When a current runs through the coil, this creates a magnetic field, which causes an actuator located in the solenoid valve to shift. An actuator is a device used to turn the energy from the electric current into motion. The solenoid valve detects the activity from the actuator, and either opens or closes to allow access or block liquid or gas from flowing through. Types Solenoid valves on intake manifolds can be open, closed or two-way. A closed solenoid valve blocks liquid or gas when a current is currently flowing through the valve. An open solenoid valve enables access to gas or liquid when a current runs through it. Two-way solenoid valves contain three ports, or openings--one inflow port, which allows in gas and liquid, and two outflow ports, which send the gas and liquid out. The outflow is switched back and forth between the two outflow openings. Resources"Auto Upkeep"; Michael E. *a combination wrench." Figure 2-4: Combination wrenches, with one open end and one boxed end, are your best bet. Offset Wrenches Some combination wrenches are sort of S-shaped. Called offset wrenches, these are good for working in hard-to-reach spots. You may want to add a couple to your tool kit. The most useful offset wrench is the distributor wrench, shown in Figure 2-5, which you use to adjust your car's timing. (You need this tool only if your car has a non-electronic ignition system.) Be sure to get one to fit the distributor hold-down clamp on your vehicle. Part I: Getting Started. Figure 2-5: An offset distributor wrench is probably the most useful offset wrench. 156

Alien (or hex) ufrenches Some of the screws or fastenings on your vehicle may have odd-shaped holes in the centers of their heads that require special Allen wrenches — L-shaped rods that fit into the holes (see Figure 2-7). If the center hole is hexagonal, the wrench you need is sometimes called a hex wrench. You can buy a set of assorted-sized Allen wrenches for under $15. Part I: Getting Started. Figure 2-7: Allen wrenches. Socket Frenches A good set of socket wrenches, shown in Figure 2-8, can really make the difference between enjoying your work and killing yourself over it. Socket wrenches come in sets for a wide variety of prices, depending on quality and how many there are in the set. Sets can include either a mix of SAE and metric sockets, all SAE, or all metric pieces. Unless you've decided to become a mechanic, you can buy an inexpensive set of basic socket wrenches suitable for your vehicle for less than $25. Figure 2-8: A socket wrench set. Toyota . The metric sizes most often used are 10,11,12,13, and 14 mm. The word drive refers to the size of the square hole in each socket where it attaches to the ratchet handle. It's easy to remember that the smaller the drive, the smaller the job you use it for. A X-inch drive is for tiny areas; %-inch drive is for the next range of sizes, typically up to SAE % or 18 mm metric; &-inch drive is for up to SAE IK, or up to 25 mm; and other drives up to 2 inches are for really big jobs (you won't need one of these monsters). You can use adapters to convert sockets of one drive to fit handles of another drive. A spark plug socket: This is the large socket with a soft lining to hold the spark plug securely without damaging its soft jacket when you remove and insert it, or when you drop it on the floor by mistake. Spark plugs come in two sizes, so make sure to get the size that fits the spark plugs in your car. Your owner's manual may note the spark plug size. At least one ratchet handle, to which you can fit any of the sockets: Most sets have two or three handles with at least one adapter. You may want to add additional adapters to extend the handle to different sizes and adapt it to different drives. Figure 2-9 shows the wide variety of sockets, handles, and adapters available.
